Windermere
Embodied Movement Workshop
Windermere Jetty Museum - Stories of boats and steam
Rayrigg Road, Windermere, LA23 1BN
Delve deeper into Boatbuilder Line Packer’s Embodied: The Making of a Windermere Skiff exhibition with this experimental dance workshop at Windermere Jetty Museum on Wednesday 4 November. Led by Cumbria-based dance artist Zoë Leigh Gadd who runs Dance Ahead CIC , this workshop will explore the physical relationship between our body, making boats and water. Drawing from Line Packer’s boat-building practice and Zoë Leigh Gadd’s expertise in movement, this dance workshop will offer a playful and fun way to connect with Windermere’s boatbuilding culture, artisan skills and stories. Through guided movement, creative exercises and shared exploration, participants will be encouraged to think about how our bodies move when crafting, creating and working with materials. No previous dance experience is needed, and the workshop is suitable for all levels. This event is hosted in partnership with The Human Playground, a Dance Ahead project. The Human Playground is Dance Ahead CIC’s developing programme of playful movement, theatre and shared creative exploration for adults. In a world that can often feel fast-paced and disconnected, it offers something different: a welcoming space where curiosity, creativity and connection can grow through movement, imagination and responsive group play. Please wear warm clothes that you will be comfortable to move in.
