Soft Focus LGBTQ+ Film Club - The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert

Queer Cumbria presents this new monthly film night showcasing international LGBTQ+ cinema for a Cumbrian audience. We’re warming things up in November with Stephan Elliot’s Australian road comedy The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. When drag queen Anthony (Hugo Weaving) agrees to take his act on the road, he invites fellow cross-dresser Adam (Guy Pearce) and transgender Bernadette (Terence Stamp) to come along. In their colourful bus, named Priscilla, the three performers travel across the Australian desert performing for enthusiastic crowds and homophobic locals. We want Soft Focus to be open and welcoming to everyone, regardless of income. To make that happen, we’re using a sliding scale ticket model. Please read the bands below and pick the option that feels honest and doable for you: Thriving (£10) : For those with secure income who want to help cover costs for others and support our community. Striving (£7.50): For those who are more financially stable and have regular disposable income. Surviving (£5): For students, unwaged, or anyone currently facing financial hardship. Soft Focus is supported by Film Hub North with National Lottery funding on behalf of the BFI Film Audience Network.
